Who says October brings a lull to the tennis season? With three great tournaments going on in Singapore, Vienna and Basel, October is bringing the excitement to the court this year. Here are some of the matches that are looking extra competitive from the three tourneys happening now. BNP Paribas WTA Finals Singapore As the women wrap up their season and head into the semis at Singapore, we’re looking at center court for a meeting between Angelique Kerber (UTR 13.19) and Sloane Stephens (UTR 13.20). Earlier this year, they met in Miami, where Stephens won in straight sets. Stephens is currently trending at UTR 13.17 and Kerber is trending at a UTR 13.06. Today, though, both their UTRs are only a one-hundredth of a decimal point apart, so this will be a battle. Vienna Open The spotlight is on the center court this Friday, where Borna Coric (UTR 15.68) takes on Kevin Anderson (UTR 15.58). These two faced off earlier in the year at the BNP Paribas at Indian Wells, where Coric won in three sets. Both have had excellent seasons this year, and this will be one to watch. Swiss Indoors Basel As we hit the Round of 16 at Basel, we’re looking forward in particular to two matches on Friday: Daniil Medvedev (UTR 15.77) vs Stefanos Tsitsipas (UTR 15.48) and Taylor Fritz (UTR 15.21) vs Marius Copil (UTR 15.17). Medvedev vs Tsitsipas Both players are trending up - Medvedev’s 3 month trending projects him at UTR 15.78 (giving him the No. 8 spot according to UTR) , while Tsitsipas’ 3 month trending projects him at UTR 15.54, and the No. 15 spot. Medvedev and Tsitsipas faced off at the US Open this year in the Round of 64, where Medvedev won in four sets. Fritz vs Copil Both Fritz and Copil have a trending UTR 15.31, with Fritz holding a slightly higher UTR 15.21 versus Copil’s UTR 15.17. These two haven’t faced off head to head this year, but this is sure to be a tight match and one to watch. Will you be watching? Who are you rooting for? Tweet us @MyUTR and let us know!
