Providers created tennis events and matchplay opportunities all over the world in January. Universal Tennis is recognizing the event, club, and newcomer of the month.
Event of the Month: NXT Gen - UTR (Dublin, Ireland)
Located in a suburb of Ireland, the West Wood Club at Leopardstown hosted its first-ever Universal Tennis event. The two-day event had a Fast4 format Tennis event with players split up into three singles and two doubles divisions all based on UTR Rating (0.0-3.00, 3.00-6.00, and 6.00+). Enrollment was a huge success: Over 50 players signed up, blowing away all expectations.
Club of the Month: Rick Macci Tennis Academy (Boca Raton, Florida)
Tournament director Jason Zafiros hosted five Battle of Boca events in January attracting 490 players and offering a total of $50,000 in prize money. The weekend matches are played at the world-famous Rick Macci Tennis Academy in South Regional Park, which boasts 19 courts. Each event boasts $10,000 in prize money and include raffles with winners going home with a pair of Yeezys.
Zafiros and the Rick Macci Tennis Academy have hosted 47 events since joining the Universal Tennis platform. The events are only getting better in 2022: Battle of Boca winners with eligible UTR Ratings receive wild cards into upcoming UTR Pro Tennis Tour events (that will take place beginning in March at the same facility).
Newcomer of the Month: Pine Lake Country Club (Detroit, Michigan)
In their very first month as a Universal Tennis Club, Pine Lake hosted five events and has already set up seven more for the coming weeks. Their January events were all level-based and included four doubles and one singles event. Organizers embraced the platform and incorporated it seamlessly into their existing programs and schedule.
The elite membership club has four indoor hard courts for the winter as well as five outdoor (four clay and one hard) for use during the rest of the season.
