India to Host First UTR Pro Tennis Tour Events Starting in November

The nation becomes one of eight new PTT host countries in 2022

Palo Alto, CA - Earlier this fall, Universal Tennis announced that the UTR Pro Tennis Tour (PTT) is coming to India with two $25,000 events starting in November.

India will hold a women’s $25K event on November 7-13, followed by a men’s $25K from December 18-25. The women’s event will take place on hard courts at the R.K. Khanna Tennis Complex in New Delhi, while the men’s event will occur at the Indore Tennis Club in Indore.

"We hope that our rising professional players will benefit from the prize money and opportunity to compete in India against other top professionals who are all aspiring to reach the big league,” said Akhouri Bishwadeep, the CEO of the All India Association.

Along with India, other new PTT host countries in 2022 include Argentina, Brazil, Greece, Italy, Japan, Slovakia, the United Arab Emirates, and the United Kingdom. The tour has offered thousands of competitive, level-based matches and, by year's end, will have been hosted in 23 countries globally, providing over $7 million in prize money.

Earlier this month, Universal Tennis announced the addition of 43 events to the 2022 PTT calendar, bringing the annual total to nearly 200 tournaments through December in the Americas, Europe, and Asia/Pacific. The PTT featured 185 events last year.

The UTR Pro Tennis Tour delivers value to aspiring pro players ranked 200-2000. The PTT provides a way for players to boost their earnings and improve their game with an innovative format guaranteeing prize money and multiple matches.

About the UTR Pro Tennis Tour (PTT)

The UTR Pro Tennis Tour officially began on January 1, 2021, with a three-year commitment of over $20M to support tennis globally with prize money, venue support, technology, logistics, and competitive play opportunities. Universal Tennis is the owner and organizing body of the UTR Pro Tennis Tour (PTT), with responsibility for its Rules and Regulations, Code of Conduct, Tournament Format and related streaming and commercial rights. The UTR Pro Tennis Tour was started to create a development tour. With fewer events and substantially reduced prize money, aspiring professional players were increasingly struggling in the pursuit of their dreams. Working with host venues and national Federations, Universal Tennis provides additive and complementary opportunities to help emerging players and the broader tennis community.
